A simple Damascene who likes to have a shallow and another profound look and observation of Syria and its people. One eye will see Syria from the point of view of a native, and the other will see it from the point of view of a foreigner.

ABUFARES SAID...THE WORLD ACCORDING TO A TARTOUSSI
http://www.abufares.net/
"A man walking alone on a deserted beach, brandishing a lantern in his outstretched hand might be a fool. But, for a ship that went astray on a stormy night, the same man is a savior."
About Me - I hail from Tartous, a Syrian city on the eastern Mediterranean. When I'm on the road, I leave my soul behind on the shores of her azure sea and the slopes of her emerald mountains. I have known many harbors and enjoyed my voyage. Yet, like a seagull, I always return home. I enjoy the simple pleasures in life (See my Interests, Favorite Movies, Music and Books). Peace, ultimately, is my dream but not on the account of my honor and dignity. I look forward a just and comprehensive peace where all humans, no exceptions, live in equality and justice. I aspire for democracy as well but that is a distant third on my list. I have no message to give, no political affiliation to follow and no religious indoctrination to dictate my way of life. I have a very low opinion of elected and self appointed officials. My relation with God is purely personal. I love almost everybody. I only hate politicians, preachers and liars (do forgive the redundancy inherent in the last sentence). This is my blog where I can scribble as I please. Welcome on board!

watanan

Al-watan or the homeland is a concept that has been troubling me for sometime. I was born in Syria and then moved with my parents to Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait to return to Syria where I lived for eight uninterrupted years. My mother is of Kurdish origin and my wife is an Arab Turkmen. I have been living for the past ten years in Chicago and now it feels like home. My troubles doubled. I have two homes, maybe more. I will blog about my homes, from my little family to the big world

The Ambassador’s Weblog – it’s about Denmark and Jordan
http://tholun.wordpress.com/
About this Blog: Mostly it will be about issues I find relevant in a Jordanian-Danish context. Sometimes actualities not directly linked to the two countries will be discussed. Serious comments will be most appreciated and hopefully lead to a fruitful discussion among the readers and me as host of this Blog. The topics and themes I intend to introduce on the Blog is of my choice only – and unless otherwise stated – my personal opinion based on my experience as a Danish government official for many years. The Danish embassy opened its doors in September 2007, and since then its small dedicated staff and I have been working hard on establishing a widespread network of people and institutions. This blog is intended to be a part of this network.

WHAT'S UP IN JORDAN?
http://ajloun.blogspot.com/
Musings of a cynical optimist
Khalaf, lives somewhere in Jordan
About Me - Young enough to think he can make a difference
Old enough to know that he should probably know better.
Rich enough to afford the time
Poor enough to feel the need to get involved.
Optimistic enough to feel that killing a mosquito will make a difference
Realistic enough to know that it won't
He writes this blog to say what many people are thinking and saying, but don't bother to write down. Maybe people think that much of it is so obvious, that it wouldn't add much to document. I hope that it will help to understand what many people in Jordan feel inside, in case anybody cares.
